How Often You Should Clean Everything in Your House

big room inside houseDo you have a set cleaning routine for when to clean what in your home? House cleaning is no easy task and even worse, you probably aren’t cleaning items as often as they need it. If it all doesn’t fit into your busy schedule, The Maids will handle your house cleaning in Greensboro.

Clean these items every single day.

Highly trafficked areas and surfaces will require daily cleaning to cut down on germs and clutter. The highest traffic areas will be the kitchen and the bathrooms. These things need to be cleaned every day: Wipe down the countertops. Your kitchen especially, but remember the countertops in your bathroom as well. Make the bed. Not only is this one step closer to a cleaner home, but it is also a pretty well-known rule of thumb for starting your day off right. Wash the dishes. Leaving out dirty dishes can attract bugs and other pests. Clean the coffeemaker. At the very least, rinse it out and empty the filter. Sweep the floors. Sweep hard surfaces such as hardwood flooring daily, as debris is more noticeable versus carpeting.

Every week, these need cleaning.

Do you have a specific day of the week set aside solely for cleaning? By doing the above tasks daily, your scheduled cleaning day will be a little easier. That day should include: Mop the floor. Sweeping the floors daily is great, but do not forget to mop to keep them in top form. Scrub the bathroom and kitchen. Spray, scrub and disinfect your kitchen and bathroom appliances and surfaces. Clean mirrors. A week’s worth of water stains, toothpaste, and more are stuck to your mirror. Dust and vacuum the whole house. Probably one of the most dreaded household cleaning tasks is dusting; thankfully, it only needs to be done once a week. Don’t forget the bed. How often do you wash and change the sheets? It should be done once a week.

Clean these every month.

Larger items will require a simple monthly cleaning. Things such as cleaning light fixtures and dusting blinds will take time, but the more routine this becomes, the easier it will get. Big appliances like the oven, washing machine, and dishwasher will need to run through on a cleaning cycle. To clean your dishwasher and washing machine, run it on the hottest water setting, pour white vinegar into their detergent compartments, and sprinkle baking soda at the bottom. Allow the machine to complete the wash cycle and it will be as good as new. While most ovens have a self-cleaning option, if you prefer the elbow grease method, there are many great oven-cleaning products that simply spray, set, and wipe off.
